WED can't recognize X-Plane Version if X-Plane wasn't the last laminar SW to run out of the folder

Seems like WED depends on data from the log.txt file to determine which version of X-Plane exists in the selected install folder. Opening WED when X-Plane was the last thing to run works fine. But if another program like the Airfoil Editor was the last thing to run, WED is unable recognize the software version.
This "unknown version" issue prevents uploading to the Scenery Gateway at a minimum, and perhaps other things.
Reproduce:
1) Run X-Plane, then quit. (Flying not necessary.)
2) Open WED. Then Quit. (Opens normally.
3) Run Airfoil Editor, then quit.
4) Open WED. Unrecognized version.
Perhaps helper apps should create their own log files anyway, (like log_airfoil.txt) instead of overwriting log.txt?

Correct - and that is sortof intentional.
You're supposed to run your gateway airport in that very X-plane version right before submission and review it. Those version numbers aren't used for anything else in WED, so it sortof hitting the right users here.
But yes - I'll file bugs against AirfoilMaker and PlaneMaker to stay away from those logs ...

Makes sense. Totally get why WED wants to verify the version. Thanks for reviewing!
