In all of my flying in Canada, every VOR I have tuned to that are High and have identified ranges of 130nm only activate at about 80nm.
Using Little Nav Map to get VOR info, which comes directly from XP, even if the VOR has a range of 130nm, I am only picking up the signal at 80nm, flying at FL400+.
XP 11.11r2

Would need specific information on which VOR, if you say "all VORs".
I tried YVO "Val d'Or" in Quebec since no precise information was given. It is listed with a 125nm range, and receivable in X-Plane up to almost twice that range (200nm) at altitude.

Hi Philipp,
YVO - Val d'Or - I can only pick it up at 80nm
Flying at FL280 in the SF50 or FL350 in the GIV, the following High VORs only get picked up at 80nm:
YXU
YVV
YEE
YCF
YXI
YOW
YYB
Those are the few I tested, I have to assume there are many more like that. Interesting in that I can also pick up the Low VORs up to 80nm.
I also think some Canadian VORs, especially in and around the CYYZ area, should be High and not Low, such as VIE, YSO, YMS, but I can't find specific info on these.
Everywhere else, in the U.S. and Europe, I get High VORs up to the 200nm range, depending on altitude.
I just updated to 11.20r4 from 11.11r2, this issue is in both versions.
Thx...Ian

Ahh, I know what this is. This was an export error in early versions of Navigraph data.
This has been fixed over a year ago. Just update to a current AIRAC.

I am using the default nav data that comes with XP. Without having to buy a subscription, how can I fix this?
Thx...Ian

You can't access navigraph updates without a subscription.

Okay then I assume this won't get fixed in XP until the default nav data is updated, which I am guessing won't happen until XP12, correct? (I am a newbie to XP so not sure the cycle LR uses for nav data update)
So if I just download the latest AIRAC from Navigraph (1805) and use the FMS Manager, it should fix the issue? I assume I can just do the current releases and then cancel my subscription.

All correct.

Okay will update my AIRAC via Navigraph. Thanks for the help Philipp...Ian

Updated the AIRAC to 1805 via Navigraph and still seeing the same problem, Canadian VORs (high) only start to receive at 80nm at FL280...tried YXC, YNY, both listed as High...Ian

Then you have not installed the data update correctly. 1805 definitely has these listed with a higher range.

Well I installed the update via the Navigraph FMS Data Manager, The G1000/CDU shows 1805 installed, and /Custom Data has all the files needed and dated April 13, including those in /CIFP...I am at a loss as to what may not be installed correctly...Ian
