higgins reported issue XSG-4215: 20AK should be 2OK on December 26, 2017 7:35 AM
Closed

There must have been some FAA name changes. 20AK is Owen Field http://airnav.com/airport/20AK which is a new airport for X-Plane.

20AK in X-Plane (Alaska Regional Hospital helipad) is actually 2OK now. http://airnav.com/airport/2OK

I just submitted Alaska Regional to the gateway, with the FAA code switched to 2OK. Once the ID is switched, I can file another report to add 20AK.

Both of these codes are FAA codes. While we are not interested in retroactively changing all airport codes that use local identifiers instead of ICAO codes (there are a lot in the database!), as we go forward we want to bring anything we touch in line with our new policy for airports without official ICAO codes.

Per our NOTAMs page, the policy is:
X (for fictitious code) + country ICAO prefix + IATA or local aviation authority code.

That means we would change these airports to XK20AK & XK2OK.

    Reporter, please acknowledge.

That's fine. Since there's an FAA code in the metadata, prefixing ICAO with XK would be fine. I'll be sure to add that to future local airport change requests.

20AK has been deprecated and the latest pack moved to XK2OK.

Please create a new airport code request for Owen Field XK20AK since it doesn't exist yet, and we'll get it added.
