- 99557 – KMKE_Electrician 11/27/2023I was able to eliminate about half of the exclusion zones (in number, not area). XP keeps putting pesky trees and residential housing in Rwy clear zones and even generating roads for public traffic inside the fence on the P-roads. Hopefully the new boundry I drew will fix this in the future and the ex zones can be removed. I've also added some more buildings and parking lots on the old AF base on the SW corner of the airport and did some more work on a few of the hotels that border the fence in that area. I was also able to simulate the 2 tunnels that run under 7R and the far south end of 1L with the road tool although the roads don't terminate real well in the other direction. I think it's better than the flat roads that just end inside the fence but maybe a better road rendering in the future will fix this too.See comments
- 99425 – KMKE_Electrician 11/16/2023Many changes the last couple years (and more to come) at MKE and I wanted to update XP for everyone if possible. As I have never used WED before and this will be my first submission, it took a while to figure things out and I'm still struggling with a lot so I hope I didn't mess things up too badly! As was mentioned, demolition of concourse E is now envisioned for next year with a new Intl Term to take it's place but we shall see. It looks like a new cargo terminal will be built on the SW corner of the airfield next year which will replace some of the old 440th AF buildings. For now it's taxiway moves and deletes. These may need some tweaks once a new satellite image is available but I have tried to build them the best I can and I think they're close. Also, I have added a few missing windsocks and updated all airfield directional signage to accurately reflect real conditions. I may have missed one here or there, but I think I got most of them. All taxiway edge lights are placed by hand using my work PC as a guide to reflect real world spacing/density. Also mentioned earlier was the fact that MKE does not have taxi CL lighting except on 2 "high speed exits" for 1L-19R at Sierra and Mike (now E2). Somehow these were re-enabled all over the airfield, so I removed them again. I also added a new FBO facility (Jet IN) that was built over the last year. It is not yet shown on satellite either. Among other things, I have added the perimeter roads, the parking structure helixes and entry & exit plazas and some remote parking lots outside the boundry. My biggest struggles are with the public road network and that's a little messy but I doubt many if any will notice too much. I'm still amazed by the previous work done on the terminal structure itself, so that is largely untouched. One question, how can I build a yellow work van and place it outside our electric shop building?? ;)See comments
