coolh reported issue XSG-4527: Road mesh not placed correctly in reference to scenery pack 589 on February 10, 2018 7:05 PM

Am doing a rework of the SABE Airport (Buenos Aires City airport), but there is a highway which is an important reference, and its not aligned correctly with the real airport boundary (the real highway runs very close to the airport fence).
Can I make a patch with the overlay editor, and upload it to you, so I can model the airport to the correct boundaries?

Thanks

I just checked the gateway version of the airport against ortho imaging and the XP 11.10 roads:

    • the whole gateway airport is about 15m shifted west, i.e. toward the highway, relative to sattelite imaging. WED 1.7 CIFP data validation indicates the exact same error.
    • the XP11.10 highway lanes are within 3m of where it is in sattelite imaging
    • the current gateway airport perimeter roads and fence overlap the XP highway edge by about 5m

So to me - there is no error at all in the roads, the gateway airport needs to be shifted 15m east. This would result in about a 10m gap between the airport perimeter road and the adjacent highway - which is spot on what satelite imaging says and certainly adequate to place the perimeter fence.

Another thing I need to say about such problems in general - its not practical to ever move around the XP11 global scenery to match any tiny discrepancy that may exist with any given sattelite imaging.
If in doubt, relocate the fence or the perimeter roads just a few meters away from the existing XP11 scenery. It will not harm the realism of the scenery if these items are a few meters off, as they are merely decorative items and not the core elements in a flight simulator. Having discrepancies of this amount in the runway, taxiways and obstruction very close to these would be much more of a concern.

Hi Michael, thanks for your response. I will follow your advice and move the airport to east as per satellite imagery. The problem in this area is the deformation of the bing and google imagery.

    You can close the issue.
    Best regards

    Fernando.

The airport Jorge Newbery Aeroparque (SABE) has underscores instead of spaces, so when listening to the ATC (IA) it calls the underscores, also it looks awful when searching for it and is the only airport in the region with underscores.

Airport name changes are accomplished by re-submitting the airport to the Gateway. The primary (original) X-Plane Airport ID must remain the same, with the new name in effect.
