If you've rebooted and reloaded XP and its still exhibiting this (which I had) It was the first time I'd been to an oversea's airfield and hadn't loaded the default scenery for that part of the world during installation of XP. Might want to check that.
still no land around this airport. Also antennae appears directly in flight line of approach. According to Norway AIP this is correct????? Perhaps if actual land was apparent the antennae would be considerably lower than runway and not be an obstacle. Sat imagery shows "something" there, but it might also be possibly several metres N and E of current location despite AIP diagram
Yes. It’s a base mesh issue not an airport scenery problem. Have suggested an ‘injection to make it look better until scenery base is recut. Hopefully then ! Scenery is perfectly correct.
Thanks for the information. Any idea when the base mesh is going to be fixed and who is responsible for that? I downloaded a Svalbard mesh from X-Plane.org but it didn't fix it and perhaps that was because it wasn't compatible with XP 11.41?
I created a custom mesh for Longyear, which is available in the Forum Download section. I didn't know where else to report the bug so i'm trying it here, as the problem is not only isolated to this custom scenery, but to the Longyear Scenery as a whole. The mesh i created has a high resolution, based off 30m-DEM-Data. The localizer antenna is way too high for this airport. When watching at footage from the real airport, there seems to be an antenna a few meters tall, cant tell the exact dimensions from cockpit videos, but it is definitely a compact NDB antenna, whereas the xplane antenna is really tall.
even with the extended mesh and the runway elevation and slope corrected, the antenna is so high that it almost scrapes at the bottom of an aircraft performing an ILS approach as per latest navdata (approach leads exactly to the threshold of the elevation-corrected, sloped runway 10). if there is any way to change the ndb-antenna for this airport, it would be very nice to see the compact ndb antenna (similar to NDB_1.obj) than one of the tall antennae provided by the other two (NDB_2/3.obj-files). hopefully there will be a fix for that, as the airport with the custom mesh has become very nice, but approaches onto RWY10 are close to impossible to reenact without virtually scratching a hole into the aircraft belly.
this is a footage about what the antenna should really look like. it is just a glimpse afar, but should make the dimensions guessable: https://vfr-pilote.fr/uploads/2018/11/ENSB.jpg
you can see the ndb-antenna slightly, right in front of the beginning of the approach lighting, and it's comparably tiny.
i just realized that the picture of the xplane scenery produces a 404, so i attached it here, instead.
sorry for not having better pictures, but i hope this makes the issue clear.
I attach two screenshots. None terrain around scenery airport. Both default scenery and one I show you

Xplane terrain only extends to 70N latitude, so not having terrain there is nominal.
NDB antennas are often much smaller than the huge tower we get in XPlane, so we see conflicts with them being in the approach path once in a while.
All this is “as correct” as XP11 will allow it - so this report can be closed.
Despite installing recently updated scenery (ronb62 dated 23/02/2020, parent scenery 43785), this airport is still in the sea!

Longyearbyen airport is displayed as an island instead of part of the mainland.

There is no scenery in XPlane for Svalbard, it is too far to the north.

this shows the antenna at the end of the runway, spiking up way to far in xp11:

any way to fix this? thanks for consideration

The antenna is probably too high but if the location is correct it's not a bug.
Airport is within the sea !

There is no terrain in X-Plane that far north.
Everything is in the water
No terrain at all

Airport in area not covered by XPlane ground scenery.
